Sustainability & circularity
For ESG, policy, management and anyone who says “Evidence please”.
How does Walloop assist with CSRD (ESRS) and reducing Scope 3 emissions in renovation?
CSRD and Scope 3 focus on supply chain impact. Walloop primarily helps by minimizing demolition (zero demolition: installing directly over existing tiles), choosing sustainable materials, and keeping materials in the loop through take-back programs. This reduces waste, transport, and raw material extraction.
What is the Return Fee and how does the take-back system work?
We offer a take-back program specifically for Walloop Premium. The Return Fee is our way of making circularity practical. You agree on the return fee in advance. At the end of their lifespan, you return the panels to us. We process them for re-use, and you receive the agreed fee (or settlement). Waste becomes raw material—truly circular.
We often hear: “Everyone claims that! But how?”
A fair question. We used to say it too, leaving the execution up to the customer. We realized that wasn't good enough.
So we turned it around. We launched a take-back system. Our installers can return offcuts and cutting waste directly to us instead of disposing of them as waste.
The initial response? Hesitant. So we did what you would expect from an ambitious company: we made it free and supplied the collection bins alongside our deliveries.
After that, things moved quickly. Today, we don't just say our panels are fully recyclable—we actively facilitate it.
Circular. Smart. Fast.
Not just a claim, but a system.

How can I demonstrate the environmental impact of Walloop Eco in my project (MPG/BREEAM)?
For Walloop Eco, we provide a product-specific Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This independently verified document outlines the panel's exact environmental impact, from raw material extraction to the factory gate (Cradle-to-Gate). With a total GWP of 2.69 kg CO2 eq. per kg of material, we offer transparent data essential for accurate lifecycle assessments (MPG) and Scope 3 reporting.
What is Walloop Eco made of and how circular is it really?
Walloop Eco is our most sustainable solution: engineered with recycled waste streams as its core and designed for take-back and reuse. Looking for technical specifications and details? Access the technical datasheet via Downloads.
Renovation, installation & disruption
For project management, maintenance teams, contractors, and anyone operating on a tight schedule.
How fast can I renovate a bathroom or toilet with wall panels over existing tiles (without demolition)?
Walloop is built for speed: panels are mounted directly over existing tiling, eliminating noisy demolition and heavy debris. With no drying times for plasterwork or tiling, you can move fast. This means shorter turnaround times and faster re-occupancy.
How much resident disruption does 'zero demolition' save (dust, noise, complaints, and rent reduction risks)?
Less demolition means significantly less noise and dust. Zero demolition makes renovations much more livable, especially in occupied properties. This improves tenant satisfaction and minimizes the risk of prolonged disruption complaints.
Who can install Walloop: do I need a professional tiler or can my in-house maintenance team handle it?
In most cases, your internal maintenance team can perform the installation. The panels are plug & play, utilizing an intuitive tongue-and-groove system. Standard tools are all you need to get the job done. However, Walloop is always available to assist when needed.
How much space is lost by fitting wall panels over tiles (in mm), especially in compact bathrooms?
Minimal. You work with 10mm wall panels (excluding mounting adhesive), so there is no need for complete stud wall framing. As a result, space loss is negligible—making this system ideal for compact toilets, bathrooms, and hotel rooms.
How do I create cutouts for faucets, showers, piping, and accessories?
Cutouts can be easily planned and created on-site. You can use standard tools such as a hole saw, router, jigsaw, or plunge saw—no specialized blades required. This applies to pipe penetrations, valves, and fixtures. Seals and joints should be finished watertight according to the installation instructions. For high-moisture zones, we recommend using Walloop W14 adhesive.
Is Walloop waterproof in wet areas and shower zones, and how are edges/corners finished?
Yes: the panels are fully water-resistant and designed for wet environments. Between panels, the interlocking system ensures a tight connection. Additionally, we advise applying Walloop W14 adhesive in high-water exposure areas. Transitions (floor/wall/corner) and penetrations should be sealed according to the installation manual to ensure full waterproof integrity.
Technical specs, quality & maintenance
For technical advisors, quality control managers, and anyone ensuring compliance.
Which fire classification (EN 13501-1) does Walloop carry and what does it mean for hotels/high-rises?
Fire classification depends on the product variant and application within the overall space. We advise on options matching your project requirements (e.g., commercial buildings, escape routes, high-rise structures). Check our Downloads page or get in touch for the correct documentation set.
How scratch and wear-resistant is the top surface according to DIN 68881?
The top layer is tested according to DIN 68881 for chemical resistance, wear resistance, and scratch resistance. In short: built to maintain a premium appearance even after years of intensive use.
Are the panels resistant to professional cleaning agents (including chlorine) and do they help prevent mold?
Yes, the top layer is chemically resistant and suitable for commercial cleaning protocols. Because you work with large-format panels (significantly fewer grout lines and seams), there are fewer places for dirt and mold to accumulate. Less maintenance, superior hygiene.
Detailed specifications on approved cleaning products can be found in our General Cleaning Instructions.
What is the weight per m² and why is lightweight paneling advantageous for renovation, prefab, and vertical extensions?
Lightweight construction eases manual handling and transport, offering significant structural benefits for existing buildings. For prefab/modular builds and rooftop extensions, every kilogram counts. Exact weight metrics can be found in our technical datasheets (Light/ECO).
What colors, finishes, and dimensions are available (including full-height panels and custom project orders)?
We offer a wide variety of designs and dimensions, including large-format panels. For commercial projects, we can assist in creating consistent styling across multiple units. Uncertain about your choice? Requesting samples is the fastest way to decide.
Is Walloop durable enough for social housing, student accommodations, and public facilities?
Walloop is engineered for heavy use: scratch-resistant, wear-resistant, low-maintenance, and easy to finish neatly. In the rare event of localized damage, individual panels can be straightforwardly replaced.
Business case: TCO, downtime & warranty
For procurement, finance teams, and anyone evaluating Total Cost of Ownership over price per m².
What is the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of Walloop vs. traditional tiles (demolition, labor, maintenance, downtime)?
TCO looks at the complete picture: reduced demolition costs, lower waste disposal fees, faster installation times, and long-term savings on maintenance and cleaning (fewer grout joints and silicone seals).
Hotel renovations: how much revenue/downtime do you save with rapid installation, and how does it affect ROI?
In the hospitality industry, downtime is costly: every day a room is out of service means lost revenue. Delivering completed rooms faster allows you to book nights sooner. Combined with reduced maintenance costs, your Return on Investment becomes clear quickly.
Can I request samples, a trial placement, or a mock-up room to evaluate quality and gain stakeholder buy-in?
Absolutely. You can start by requesting samples. For larger commercial developments, we are happy to arrange a pilot project or mock-up installation so technical teams, property managers, and stakeholders can assess the results firsthand.
How do you handle supply reliability and just-in-time delivery for large projects (50+ units)?
Large-scale renovation projects require clear coordination. Share your timeline, quantities, and design preferences with us, and we will tailor logistics and delivery schedules to keep your construction timeline running smoothly.
Sector-specific questions: housing corporations, hotels, sports, healthcare & modular
Because a hotel isn't a swimming pool. And a sports club isn't a care facility.
Sports facilities: is Walloop impact-resistant and suitable for changing rooms, showers, and wet areas?
In sports environments, you need smooth, low-maintenance wall surfaces capable of withstanding heavy daily use. Walloop is water-resistant and offers a seamless finish. We are happy to advise on the optimal setup per area (changing room, shower, wet zone).
Healthcare & care facilities: can I safely mount grab bars, shower seats, and accessories onto Walloop panels?
Yes. Important note: heavy fixtures must always be anchored into the underlying wall structure or stud framework, rather than solely into the panel surface. This guarantees structural stability and safety.
Modular/prefab: do panels crack during transport or hoisting, and are they suitable for bathroom pods?
Predictability and robustness are essential for off-site manufacturing. Walloop is plug & play, water-resistant, and simple to handle. We work closely with you to coordinate mounting details, tolerances, and factory cutouts for your specific module design.
Hotels: can I customize colors/designs to match our brand identity, and is custom sourcing possible for volume orders?
We provide a wide array of designs and panel sizes, including large formats. For hotel chains and larger developments, we collaborate to ensure the bathroom aesthetics align with your brand while remaining practical for housekeeping. Custom options depend on project volume and lead times.
Housing corporations: how does Walloop reduce mold growth and maintenance in damp bathrooms (fewer grout lines/silicone)?
Mold thrives in porous grout lines and places where moisture lingers. Walloop uses large-format panels with tight joinery, drastically reducing mold hot-spots compared to traditional tiling. Less silicone, less maintenance, greater peace of mind.
